The TN31 Parka Hood Addition PDF Pattern - Merchant & Mills
PDF sales are final sale & non-refundable.
This is a PDF pattern that will give you the relevant pattern pieces to make a hood for the TN31 Parka. There are two options, you can either make a hood that is detachable with buttons or a hood that gets sewn in. This includes the pattern pieces and instructions for both options.
Please note you have to already have the TN31 Parka pattern in order to make this, these are just the additional pattern pieces with instructions for those parts.
All seam allowances are 1cm unless otherwise stated.
Skill level - experienced.
This PDF pattern is made up of 1 A0 page and 20 A4 pages.
Fabric suggestions - Dry Oilskin, Oilskin (lined version only), Tweed, Woollens, Cotton Drill, Cotton Canvas, Waterproofed Cottons and Linens. Using something like oilskin will ensure it keeps it structural shape, but we think it would look equally good in something more slinky like a Tencel Twill.
For the ribbing neckline, we have used rib that stretches by half again, i.e. 10cm piece stretches to 15cm. We used our plain rib which you can see by clicking onto alternative fabrics. You can also use a piece of our French striped ribbing for the neckline.
For the lining we would recommend using our Barrier Lining if you are making the oilskin version. We have it in Black or Tan. Other lining options; Brushed Cotton, Cotton Poplin, or a medium weight slip lining in viscose or acetate.
For the lining we would suggest using either our 5oz organic dry oilskin, half panama cotton, or barrier lining. You can see all of these by clicking on the suitable fabrics tab.
You will need:
atching thread.
Buttons - 6 x approximately 17-22mm. We have had 4 Corozo buttons dyed specially to match our oilskin colours. You can see these here.
Drawstring cord - 3.2m.
